Introduction to Python & Environment Setup
Welcome to Python! Understand why it's the world's most popular language, what you can build with it, and how to set up your coding environment.
Welcome to the World of Python!
Imagine a programming language that reads almost like plain English, yet is powerful enough to run Instagram, train AI models, and automate your boring daily tasks. That's Python.
Created by Guido van Rossum in 1991, Python was designed with one clear philosophy: Code should be highly readable and fun to write.
What Can You Build?
- Web Development: Backend servers using Django or FastAPI.
- Data Science & AI: Machine learning models using TensorFlow or pandas.
- Automation: Scripts to scrape websites or organize files.
Setting Up Your Workspace
Before writing code, you need two essential tools:
- The Python Interpreter: Head over to python.org and download the latest version. Crucial step: Make sure to check the box that says "Add Python to PATH" during installation.
- A Code Editor: We highly recommend Visual Studio Code (VS Code). It's free, lightweight, and has amazing Python extensions that will catch your mistakes before you even run the code.
